BonTaj Blues Fest
During last night's performance, Fruit Bats displayed top form. The unison and camaraderie among her band was very evident as she paid tribute to her family in particularly her brother Steve, who recently passed away. Taj Mahal later joined her on stage, bringing a lighter mood and some silly moves. The program featured Taj with his band, followed by Fruit Bats with her band, and finally both artists together as BonTaj, with their bands. The emotional roller coaster culminated with the audience standing through the final song, an old Elmore James number. No encore was necessary due to the well-crafted set list. Mother Nature even cooperated, as mentioned by Fruit Bats, a local girl, who expressed joy at being back at The Greek on such a pleasant evening. The night ended on a high note with no one disagreeing about the enjoyable experience.
